INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19

ALL OF ROMU’S VISITOR SITES WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE DURATION OF MARCH

We are looking out for each other – by keeping our distance and avoiding all encounters.
ROMU’s visitor sites will therefore be closed for the public, so far, for the duration of March.
All events, showings and external activities has also been cancelled or postponed.

ROMU

ROMU derives from Roskilde Museum which was established in 1929. Today ROMU consists 10 museums across three municipalities: Roskilde, Lejre and Frederikssund. ROMU wishes to be a prominent actor in the Danish cultural life and ROMU has an ambition to actualise knowledge of cultural heritage and make this knowledge relevant.

ROMU is one out of 10 museums on a national level that has been appointed by Slots- og Kulturstyrelsen to handle supervision of the Danish protected sites and monuments. Furthermore, the museum handles the supervision of the central and western part of Zealand.

Join us on a trip into the music that changed its time. The Danish band Gasolin’ walked straight into the hearts of the Danes – laughing, yelling and creating. They made the Danish rock scene greater! 

The music tells us who Gasolin’ is. It awakens something – a special feeling…

VISIT THE MUSEUMS

ROSKILDE MUSEUM

Experience the tale of Roskilde city and region and its cultural heritage seen through unique archaeological findings and interesting objects from recent history.

FREDERIKSSUND MUSEUM

In the beautiful exhibition of the old Færgegård (ferry house), you can experience the history of the lands of the fiord from ancient time to what is todays present Denmark.

LEJRE MUSEUM

Experience the sagas, facts and unique archaeological findings of the Viking Age from Gl. Lejre. Amongst other things you can see the world famous Odin figure and the Treasure of Mannerup.

RAGNAROCK

Embark on a fantastic journey into the universe of pop, rock and youth culture and sense your way through the history of the 1950’s rock’n’roll to wild rhythms of today. 

TADRE MØLLE

The perfect place for an outing in green surroundings with family and friends. In the old mill shop, it is possible to purchase coffee, tea, ice cream and other delicious treats.

LÜTZHØFTS KØBMANDSGÅRD

With its historical charm, fragrant smell of spices and original interior, this old grocery shop is like taking a step back to the 1920’s in Roskilde. 

SANKT LAURENTIUS

Go underground in the middle of the square Stændertorvet and travel 1000 years back in time. Experience a unique and hidden gem from the earliest medieval time in Denmark. 

GL. KONGSGAARD

Peek into the farmer culture of the past and experience how life was led in the 1800’s in this countryhouse from 1740.

ROMU har det arkæologiske ansvar for Roskilde, Lejre og Frederikssund kommuner. Det betyder, at vi indenfor ansvarsområdets grænser samarbejder med planmyndigheder, entreprenører og store såvel som små bygherrer om at sikre de arkæologiske interesser, som kan blive berørt

I ROMUs dækningsområde Roskilde, Frederikssund og Lejre Kommune har vi en lang række enestående spor fra vores fortid af national og international betydning. Eksempelvis kongehaller og skibsætning i Lejre, den underjordiske kirkeruin Skt. Laurentius i Roskilde samt enestående spor og unikke fund fra livet omkring Roskilde Fjord fra oldtid, middelalder og nutid.
